Wasco County
Mini Tour
The County's Many Attractions
If your ancestors came to western or central Oregon, or to western Washington, prior to about 1870, they came through Wasco County. Not many counties can boast of an absolute truth like that. Until the Indian wars subsided, it was safer to live nearer to Oregon City, so that is where most of the pioneers initially settled in western Oregon. But the beauty and natural bounty of Wasco County beckoned many of them to return in the 1860s and later. We'd like to give you an idea what they saw and why they returned...

Wasco County contains many special attractions in addition to its towns. We will take a quick look at each of the towns and the nearby attractions. If you have information or photos about any of these or other attractions, please contact the webmaster. We'd love to borrow them from you!

[Webmaster's Note: We are now able to afford the room for photos of each of these locations and subject areas. Your contributions of information, scans or actual photos will be appreciated!]
